Co-operative Trading Group launches a NICE way to fund your PACE pension
The Co-operative Trading Group has announced the re-launch of salary sacrifice for its contributing PACE members and will shortly be writing to them to explain how they are affected. The new name for salary sacrifice is NICE Pensions.
NICE Pensions is only available for Co-operative Trading Group employees. If you are employed by Co-operative Financial Services, Unity Trust Bank, Co-operatives UK, the Co-operative College or the Co-operative Party you are not affected by the introduction of NICE Pensions and the options you have for funding your pension remain the same.

PACE wins award!
Did you know that in September PACE won the Pensioner communications award at the Pension Scheme of the Year Awards? It's the second year running that PACE has won the award and comes hot on the heals of the Co-operative Group winning a prestigious award from the Association of Communicators in Business for Evergreen magazine (which you can download from the document library at the top of the page).
Trustee Election Results
During the Summer, we ran elections to fill two member nominated trustee director positions. The elections closed on 14 September 2009, Frank Nelson was elected by the pensioner members and Kevin Sullivan was re-elected by members of the Trading Group. There will be more member nominated trustee elections during 2010.
PACE wins three awards
The Pension Scheme of the Year Awards 2008 took place on 11 September 2008 at the Park Lane Hilton in London. Hosted by Professional Pensions magazine, the leading UK pensions industry publication, these awards recognise schemes which show the highest levels of service to members. PACE was shortlisted in five categories - and won the following three awards!
- Best In-House Administration
- Trustee Development Award
- Pensioner Communications

Financial Times Pensions Management Awards 2007
At the Financial Times Pensions Management Awards in October 2007, PACE was awarded the 'Large Scheme of the Year' award by the judges for the second year running. The award is acknowledged as a badge of quality within the UK pensions industry.
PACE Wins Award
The PACE Scheme has been named 'Premier Scheme of the Year 2007' by Professional Pensions magazine. This is the second year running that PACE has collected this award. Professional Pensions is the UK's leading publication for the occupational pensions industry.
The Pensions Advisory Service is an independent non-profit organisation which provides free information and advice. They recently launched a new women and pensions helpline to deal with the specific pension issues facing women. It has proved hugely popular and received over 3,000 calls in its first week. The helpline number is 0845 600 0806.
