Ill health
If your absence is due to ill health, you will still be treated as a Member. Your contributions and your pension will be calculated on the earnings you receive while you are absent. During any period in which you do not receive any pay and do not pay any contributions, you will not build up pension.
Whilst you are absent, you will still be covered for death in service benefits.
On your return to work after a period of absence due to family leave or ill health, you may be able to pay any unpaid contributions and build up pension for the relevant period. For further details please contact the Group Pensions team.
